Lately there has been a few things on my mind I wish I could publish better than just on my blog. Without Facebook, it is hard for me to get the 'viz' on some of my thoughts that I wish I had. So the BoM Musical is out and getting reviewed, analyzed and torn apart both positively and negatively. As one can imagine, the negative reviews are primarily from, what I might call conservative, or right-wing Mormons. ( I use labels here as I have read blog after blog calling out Mormons who DID like the musical or the music from the musical as 'unfaithful' or 'so-called Latter-Day Saints', which I take issue with). Let me back up a bit. Not that it is anyone's business, but I consider my personal faith on pretty-good standing with my God. Whether that reflects in day-to-day life I don't really care as all that boils down to a relationship between me and my Maker, which is true with everyone on earth, right?
So labels help. Here, I define right-wing or conservative Mormons as less-than nominal Mormons for, in my view, they have minimal world experience, they are ignorant of world affairs, or they have this experience and/or knowledge and still choose to embrace a self-serving worldview. This is my blog and my opinion and a blanket labeling. I realize not all right wing or conservative Mormons are this way, as not all left wing or liberals fit one definition.
So on with my issue. I find that it fits well with my definition of conservative type Mormons as they are primarily concerned with labeling those they think are unfaithful if those in question in any way embrace something the conservative Mormon thinks is evil or wrong.
Coping and dealing with one's relationship to God is tough enough in this life and the majority of us are hard enough on ourselves to not need condescending pompous arrogant @$$es telling us how to align ourselves to God.
As far as the BoM Musical goes, everything applies. Just because I may be more tolerant to our non-Mormon neighbors who choose to interpret this life in joke form, in my mind actually makes me a better person than the right-wing Mormon who spits disgust their way and speaks of the artistic form in which they communicate their feelings as pitiful, meaningless, intolerant shallow and horrible. The vile they choose as ammunition is fighting fire with fire in a way and I find that more repulsive than their right-mindedness in general.
God is a liberal. Jesus as a mortal was a liberal. All this conservatism trying to speak for God is wreaking havoc on my tolerance of that narrow-mindedness. Stop pretending you know God's will, and stop assuming you know who is evil and who is not. How you treat others is a direct representation of how you feel about yourself.
You have good points that I agree with, I also like your bleeping of the naughty word ha ha ha... (Alex)
